At least six people were injured after a Lamborghini allegedly driven by Shivam Mishra, son of tobacco businessman K K Mishra, lost control and rammed into multiple vehicles in Kanpur on Sunday afternoon. The accident occurred around 3.15 pm near Rev-3 Mall, triggering panic as the luxury car mounted the pavement after hitting an auto-rickshaw and a motorcycle.
Eyewitnesses said the speeding car first struck an auto-rickshaw before crashing into a Royal Enfield motorcycle, flinging the rider nearly 10 feet into the air. The motorcycle was dragged for some distance as the Lamborghini climbed over its front wheel, before finally crashing into an electric pole and coming to a halt.
Following the collision, angry locals surrounded the vehicle, blocking the driver from leaving. Witnesses alleged that private bouncers arrived at the scene and attempted to extract the driver from the car, eventually taking him away in another vehicle, while the Lamborghini was seized and taken to the police station.
The Mishra family has claimed that Shivam suffers from a medical condition and experienced a seizure while driving, leading to the loss of control. A family member told police that he had been facing such episodes for the past six months, a claim that authorities are currently verifying.
Confirming the incident, DCP (Central) Atul Kumar Srivastava said an investigation is underway to establish the exact circumstances of the crash, including the medical claims and allegations surrounding the driver’s removal from the scene. Police said statements of witnesses are being recorded and further action will follow based on findings.
