Weeks after DMK leader Senthil Kumar's 'gaumutra' remark, another DMK leader, Dayanidhi Maran, draws criticism for disparaging comments against migrants from Hindi-speaking states in Tamil Nadu. At a public meeting, Maran remarked that Hindi-speaking people are involved in cleaning toilets and roads in the state.
“Hindi-speaking people are cleaning toilets and roads for us,” Dayanidhi said.
Earlier this month, Senthil Kumar, DMK MP from Dharmapuri, had referred to Hindi heartland states as 'gaumutra states' during a parliamentary address on 'The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill 2023', following BJP's victories in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.
DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin's earlier remarks against Sanatan Dharma also resurfaced, where he advocated for eradicating it.
Congress leaders Karti Chidambaram and Priyank Kharge voiced support for the DMK leaders, with Chidambaram associating Sanatan Dharma with a caste hierarchical society and Kharge asserting that any religion not promoting equality is akin to a disease.
