In the ongoing Gyanvapi Case in Varanasi, the Hindu side has submitted a petition to the Supreme Court, urging an ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) survey of the Vajukhana within the disputed Gyanvapi complex. The petition also calls for the opening of the sealed area within Gyanvapi, as ordered by the Supreme Court.
The Hindu plaintiff seeks a cancellation of the Supreme Court's May 19, 2023 order that prohibited the scientific survey of the 'Shivling' found in the Gyanvapi Mosque complex. The Muslim side had previously opposed the ASI survey, expressing dissatisfaction even with the prospect of the survey report being made public.
Concurrently, the hearing for the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi-Idgah case related to Mathura has been postponed until April, following a demand from the Hindu side for a survey in the disputed premises. Notice has been sent to all parties involved in this case.
