Hindus protest at India-Bangladesh border in Malda, burn effigies against killing of Dipu Das

Tensions escalated along the India-Bangladesh border on Wednesday as several Hindu organizations and the BJP staged massive protests against the brutal killing of Dipu Das in Bangladesh. In Old Malda’s Manoharpur Muchia, members of the Hindu Sanatan community took to the streets with traditional instruments like 'khol-kartal,' chanting slogans for Hindu unity. The protesters expressed deep outrage over the reported atrocities against minorities in the neighboring country and called for a global unification of Hindus to safeguard their rights.

The demonstrations also spread to the Petrapole border in Bongaon, where BJP leaders, including MLA Asim Sarkar, led a protest march. Effigies were burnt near the zero point to signal defiance against the interim government in Bangladesh. Protesters at the border sent a stern warning to Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, stating that if the persecution of Hindus continues, the waves of protest will inevitably cross the barbed-wire fences.

Speakers at the rally in Malda emphasized that the murder of a common working-class youth like Dipu Das is an attack on humanitarian values. One of the protesters, Jyotsna Sarkar, condemned the incident in the strongest terms, asserting that the community would no longer remain silent observers of such barbarism. The agitators demanded immediate and exemplary punishment for the killers, warning of intensified movements if the safety of Hindus across the border is not guaranteed.
