A tragic road accident claimed the life of a pedestrian in the Thakdari area at the New Town police station area on Sunday evening. The incident occurred around 6:30 pm when a bike traveling from Aquatica toward Thakdari struck Ripon Das, a resident, as he was crossing the road.
The collision resulted in a loud noise, drawing locals to the scene. They found Ripon Das severely injured and bleeding. Acting swiftly, they transported him to the Bidhan Nagar Subdistrict Hospital. However, despite efforts to save him, the medical team declared him dead upon arrival.
The biker involved in the accident fled the scene immediately after the collision. According to police sources, a case has been registered, and the New Town police have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the fleeing motorcyclist.
Police are reviewing local CCTV footage to gather clues about the bike and its rider. Witness accounts are also being collected to aid the investigation. As of now, no arrests have been made.
