Following the explosion at Bengaluru's renowned Rameshwaram Cafe on March 1, which left 9 individuals injured, including two personnel, the Home Ministry has entrusted the investigation to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The blast occurred during peak hours in the afternoon, prompting Bengaluru Police to register a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosive Substances Act. Surveillance footage obtained by the police revealed a suspect carrying a bag inside the cafe, leading investigators to suspect the use of an IED device with a timer.
In response to the incident, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara assured swift action, announcing the formation of eight investigative teams to pursue leads from various angles. Meanwhile, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar recounted the events leading up to the blast, stating that a young man had entered the cafe with a small bag, which detonated approximately an hour later. With the investigation now under NIA's jurisdiction, authorities aim to ensure a comprehensive probe into the incident, urging cooperation from all stakeholders and refraining from politicizing the matter.
