Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
A shocking murder in Bally has sent ripples through the locality after a domestic worker allegedly killed her employer, a homeopathic doctor, and later surrendered to the police. The victim, identified as Ramakrishna Chalaki, was found lying in a pool of blood inside his flat at Bally Ganga Apartment on GT Road on Thursday. The accused, Tapati alias Phuli, who had been working at his residence for a considerable period, reportedly informed the police herself and admitted to carrying out the attack using a cleaver.
According to preliminary findings, the murder may be linked to a complex personal equation between the victim and the accused. Investigators are examining allegations of an alleged close relationship and claims of blackmail raised by the victim’s family. The police have indicated that while the accused has confessed to the crime, she has not clearly disclosed the exact motive behind the killing.
Family members of the deceased have expressed suspicion that financial issues may have played a role. The victim’s brother stated that apart from his medical practice, the doctor was also involved in business, and suggested that the accused may have been motivated by money. He added that the victim lived alone in the apartment, while the family’s ancestral home is in Dankuni, and that the housemaid had been working there for over a year.
During her transfer to court, the accused remained largely silent but made a brief remark when questioned, without elaborating on it. Police have registered a non-bailable case of murder and are continuing their investigation to establish the sequence of events and the precise motive behind the crime. The accused was produced before a court in Howrah on Friday as the probe continues.
