The onset of cold weather is now evident across the entire state of West Bengal, including the capital city of Kolkata, as reported by the Meteorological Department on Saturday. The statement highlighted that Kolkata's maximum temperature has reached 30 degrees Celsius, which is one degree below the normal level.
Simultaneously, the minimum temperature has dropped to 21.3 degrees Celsius, leading to a noticeable chill during nighttime sleep. The cold wave is not limited to Kolkata, as other regions such as Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Purulia, Bankura, Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, and Kalimpong in North Bengal are also experiencing a drop in temperatures.
