In a shocking incident in Durgapur, Kultali, South 24 Parganas, a husband stands accused of pouring acid on his wife due to an alleged dowry demand. The victim, Sajida Halder, is currently undergoing treatment at Kultali Hospital, while local authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter.
The sequence of events unfolded over the past six years when Ahachan Mollah, a resident of Durgapur, married Sajida from Chandpur. Allegedly, Ahachan consistently pressured her to bring money from her parental home and subjected her to severe beatings when she failed to comply. Adding to the turmoil, Ahachan entered into a second marriage and kept both wives in the same house.
The situation escalated to its breaking point on Sunday when neighbors heard distressing screams emanating from their residence. Upon arriving, they discovered Sajida with severe burns covering her body. She was promptly rushed to the hospital, and a formal complaint was lodged at the Kultali police station. Currently, the accused husband and his second wife remain at large, and the investigation into this disturbing incident is ongoing.
