Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
A programme was scheduled to release guppy fish into drains across various areas to prevent dengue. However, fish worth lakhs of rupees were found dead before the event, leading to its cancellation. Despite having previously announced the programme, Howrah Municipal Corporation’s Chief Administrator made a complete U-turn. Administrator Sujoy Chakraborty claimed he had no knowledge of the programme, even though a WhatsApp message had been sent to the media. Health workers from different areas arrived to collect the fish but had to return. Questions are now being raised as to why the administrator denied involvement despite health workers being summoned.
