Sumit Sau, a 19-year-old, has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) investigating officers from Munger in Bihar for his participation in the Ram Navami procession with firearms.
Howrah Police Commissioner Praveen Tripathi stated during a press conference on Wednesday that the procession was marred by the throwing of bricks and stones, and that the police officers present took immediate action to handle the situation. A video of the procession, which went viral on social media, showed a youth carrying a pistol. Following the incident, the police and CID officials conducted raids to locate the individual.
The arrest of Sumit Sau comes as a result of these investigations, and he is currently in police custody. The incident has raised concerns about the use of firearms and violence during religious processions, and authorities are urging citizens to maintain peace and harmony during such events.
