A violent clash over a food-related dispute has left a contractor critically injured in Howrah’s Baniyara area of Domjur. The incident took place late last night when an argument escalated between the contractor and his workers.
The victim, identified as Mobirul Sheikh from Murshidabad, was allegedly attacked with a small gas cylinder and a hammer. He suffered severe injuries and was rushed to SSKM Hospital, where his condition remains critical.
According to police, three workers from Pakur district in Bihar, who had been brought to Domjur by Mobirul for work, were involved in the attack. They were staying together in a rented house in the locality. Following the incident, two of the accused were arrested, while the third is absconding.
Officials said an investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the assault. The case has triggered tension in the area, with police maintaining a close watch
