Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
The Howrah Government Railway Police (GRP) achieved a breakthrough by recovering a stolen HP laptop and arresting a local railway hawker involved in the crime. The incident was reported by Dr. Sarita Anand on February 9th, after her bag went missing from coach C-1 of the Down Purulia–Howrah Express. The bag contained her high-end laptop along with other valuable personal belongings, prompting her to file a formal written complaint with the railway authorities.
Following the directive of GRP SRP Indrajit Basu (IPS), an investigation was immediately launched. Based on intelligence and surveillance at the Howrah Railway Station, police detained a 45-year-old railway hawker identified as Tapan Chakraborty. During interrogation, the suspect provided leads that took the investigating team to his residence in Rishra, where a thorough search operation was conducted.
The search was successful, resulting in the recovery of the stolen HP laptop and all other missing items. Chakraborty was taken into custody for further legal proceedings. Upon receiving court orders, the GRP formally returned the recovered property to Dr. Sarita Anand. Expressing her gratitude, Dr. Anand praised the Howrah GRP for their professionalism and efficiency in handling the case.
