Howrah residents block road over five-year neglect; Panchayat assures prompt repairs

In Domjur block’s Bankra No. 3 Panchayat, residents of Kundli village blocked the road from the local hospital to the school, protesting the poor condition of the road that has remained damaged for five years. The protest lasted for four hours before the blockade was lifted following assurances from the Panchayat Committee’s Executive Director.

The road in question was constructed in 2011 and has been in a dilapidated state since then, according to local residents. They stated that despite repeated complaints, no repair or maintenance work has been carried out by the Panchayat. The poor condition of the road has affected daily movement between key locations like the hospital and the school.

The Executive Director of the Domjur Panchayat Committee assured that repair work would begin soon, which led to the temporary removal of the blockade. However, the residents warned that if the work does not start within 15 days, they will resume their protests.
