Hrithik Roshan to take the director's seat for 'Krrish 4'; YRF to produce

The highly anticipated fourth installment of India's beloved superhero franchise, 'Krrish', is set to be helmed by none other than the 'superhero' himself, Hrithik Roshan. This significant development marks Hrithik Roshan's directorial debut, a transition enthusiastically announced by his father, Rakesh Roshan, the founder of the franchise. Adding another layer to this exciting news, Yash Raj Films (YRF) will be taking over the production of 'Krrish 4'.  

Rakesh Roshan, who directed and produced the previous 'Krrish' films, shared a heartfelt message on X, expressing his pride in passing the directorial baton to his son. In his post on Friday, he mentioned that he originally launched Hrithik as an actor 25 years ago and is now "re-launching" him as a director for their most ambitious project, 'Krrish 4', in collaboration with Aditya Chopra of YRF. His caption read, "Duggu 25yrs back I launched you as an actor, and today again after 25 yrs you are being launched as a director by two filmmakers Adi Chopra & myself to take forward our most ambitious film #Krrish4. Wish you all the success in this new avatar with good wishes and blessings (sic)."  

Earlier, Siddharth Anand, who directed Hrithik in the recent film 'Fighter', was associated with 'Krrish 4' as a producer. However, Rakesh Roshan clarified in a statement to India Today that he is entrusting the directorial responsibilities to Hrithik, stating, "I am passing the baton of the director of 'Krrish 4' to my son, Hrithik Roshan, who has lived, breathed and dreamt about this franchise since its inception with me. Hrithik has a clear and a very ambitious vision of taking Krrish’s journey forward with the audience for the next decades."  

Rakesh Roshan further described this new chapter as a "deliciously creative combination," emphasizing his immense pride in seeing his son take on the director's role for a film that holds deep personal significance for their family. He believes that "Krrish has entertained audiences the world over and Hrithik will now reveal the next chapters of this superhero saga and take the vision I created so many years ago to greater heights."  

Acknowledging the collaboration with Yash Raj Films, Rakesh Roshan, who initiated the franchise with 'Koi... Mil Gaya' in 2003, lauded Aditya Chopra for his commitment to backing the film with the aim of expanding its global reach. He stated, "Adi and Yash Raj Films have the knowledge, understanding and technological might to produce this film and add great value to this project."  

Sources close to the production have indicated that the shooting for 'Krrish 4' is expected to commence next year. According to these sources, "The script has been locked, and pre-production work is presently going. The film will go on floors in early 2026." The last film in the 'Krrish' series, which featured Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut alongside Hrithik Roshan, was released in 2013, with Vivek Oberoi portraying the antagonist.
