Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Humayun Kabir is set to face disciplinary action after the party’s Assembly Disciplinary Committee found his response to a show-cause notice unsatisfactory. Kabir had questioned why leaders like Firhad Hakim, Saokat Molla, and Siddiqullah Chowdhury were not held accountable for their remarks, while he was repeatedly served notices.
Senior TMC leader Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay confirmed, “We are not satisfied with Humayun’s response,” and stated that the MLA was summoned for discussions. Kabir had been given 72 hours to apologize after commenting on Suvendu Adhikari’s statement regarding Muslim MLAs. With the deadline now over, Kabir responded defiantly, saying, “Back when Adhir Chowdhury was the Railway Minister, I had done things. This time, I will do even more. Let Suvendu Adhikari come to Murshidabad just once and see.”
His remarks have intensified political friction within the party as leaders weigh further disciplinary measures. TMC's disciplinary panel is preparing strict action, with the leadership firm on addressing internal dissent. Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay confirmed Kabir’s summons, saying, “We summoned Humayun yesterday.”
