Amid the Bharat Nyay Yatra, Rahul Gandhi addressed speculation about the alliance between Congress and TMC in Bengal. Clarifying in Kamrup, Assam, he said he has cordial relations with Mamata Banerjee. Rahul Gandhi stated that occasional remarks from both sides do not impact their rapport, downplaying any apparent discord.
"Such comments don't matter", Gandhi said.
The Congress leader's clarification comes amid recent speculations of a rift between Congress and TMC over seat-sharing arrangements in Bengal.
Recently, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury criticised West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, calling her an opportunist, and said that the party would contest the Lok Sabha elections without her assistance after Banerjee declared TMC will likely contest all 42 seats in Bengal.
Earlier in January, Adhir Ranjan slammed Mamata over seat-sharing, reacting to reports which stated TMC had offered two seats to Congress in Bengal. Adhir stated that Congress won't be begging for seats, and have defeated TMC in the past.
