“Who will form INDIA Bloc?” Agnimitra Paul calls TMC ‘tukde-tukde gang’
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to deploy the Indian Air Force (IAF) to transport question papers for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21. NTA Director General Abhishek Singh announced the move during a review meeting on examination preparations, stating that enhanced security measures are being implemented following the cancellation of the earlier examination over allegations of a paper leak. The re-examination is expected to be conducted for more than 2.2 million candidates across the country.
According to officials, this is the first time the Indian Air Force will be engaged in transporting question papers for a national entrance examination. The decision was taken as part of a broader effort to strengthen the security of the examination process and safeguard the integrity of question paper distribution. Authorities said the measure reflects the importance being attached to ensuring a secure and transparent conduct of the examination.
During a review meeting on examination arrangements, officials were instructed to ensure comprehensive coordination among departments responsible for infrastructure, transportation, security, electricity supply, drinking water and other essential services. In Telangana alone, around 73,000 candidates are expected to appear for the examination across 208 centres located in 24 cities. Authorities have been directed to provide candidates with a smooth and uninterrupted examination experience.
Police officials have also been instructed to strengthen security arrangements at all examination centres and maintain continuous vigilance. Authorities have been asked to closely coordinate with district administrations and actively monitor social media platforms to identify and counter misinformation, rumours and false claims that could affect the conduct of the examination. Special emphasis has been placed on preventing disruptions during the examination process.
The re-examination was scheduled after the National Testing Agency cancelled the NEET-UG examination conducted on May 3 following allegations of a question paper leak. The matter is currently under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation. During a recent hearing, the Supreme Court was informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was personally monitoring developments related to the examination cancellation and the investigation into the alleged leak.
