In a major operation, the Bidhan Nagar Cyber Crime Police Station has apprehended 12 individuals, including two young girls, in connection with a fake call center operating in Lake Town, West Bengal.
The accused individuals were allegedly involved in cheating people from different parts of the state and across India by falsely promising the installation of 4G towers.
Acting on a tip-off, the police raided the premises of "BI M Fast Service Pvt Ltd," where the illicit call center was operating for the past month. The owner of the call center, identified as Badsha Mandal, and his associate Abhishek Samanta, were found to be running the operation without valid documents. Subsequently, the police conducted a thorough search of the premises.
During the raid, a total of 12 individuals, including two women, were taken into custody. Preliminary investigations reveal that the fraudsters duped people by convincing them to set up fake towers on rooftops or vacant land and by offering loans from various banks. Through deceptive means, the accused managed to extort a significant amount of money from their victims.
The Bidhan Nagar Cyber Crime Police Station, led by Saheb Khan, successfully apprehended the suspects and will present them before the Bidhan Nagar court today. The seized evidence includes documents, SIM cards, and a sum of INR 45,100, which will be crucial in further investigations.
