A large quantity of illegally stored local and foreign liquor was seized during a late-night raid in Naihati ahead of the elections. The operation was carried out jointly by the Intelligence Department of the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate and officers from Naihati Police Station following a tip-off about illegal storage and possible distribution.
During the raid at the RBC Road–Gauripur Chowmatha area, police arrested a 36-year-old man identified as Manoj Paswan, also known as Marco. Officials recovered around 143 litres of local and foreign liquor along with ₹20,000 in cash from his possession.
The accused was produced before the Barrackpore Court while police initiated further investigation into the case. Authorities are now examining the source of the liquor and whether it was being stockpiled for illegal distribution ahead of the elections.
