In a major crackdown, officers of the Detective Department of Bidhannagar Police Station unearthed an illegal SIM box operation running from Flat No. 5B, Pawa Floor, Galaxy Apartment in Hatiara. Acting on careful technical surveillance and digital analysis, the raiding team discovered a fully functional setup allegedly being used to route international calls into India through unlawful means.
What appeared to be an ordinary residential flat from the outside concealed a large-scale telecom fraud operation within. Police found multiple SIM box devices and telecom hardware in active condition. The system was reportedly converting international VoIP calls into domestic calls and routing them through Indian telecom networks, deliberately bypassing authorised international gateway exchanges and regulatory safeguards.
Abir Sheikh, also known as Monirul Islam Sajib, was found operating the devices at the time of the raid. During interrogation, he allegedly admitted to running the illegal operation and facilitating the unlawful routing of international calls into the country.
