Important facts you should know about 2024 LS Elections

While addressing the presser to announce the dates for the upcoming Lok Sabha election on Saturday (March 16), Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar shared several important numbers related to the polls. He said as many as 96.8 crore citizens had registered themselves to vote for the most-awaited election of the year. Check the important facts about this year's general elections. 

• 5942 booths in Bengal will be run by women, one in each district will be managed by persons with disabilities
• 12 states and UTs have more women voters than men
• Over 85 lakh first-time women voters will participate in the 2024 general elections
• More than 2 lakh registered voters were over 100 years of age
• 19.74 crore young voters in the 20 to 29 age group
• A total of 88.4 lakh people with disabilities have been registered in the electoral roll
• Over 48,000 transgenders are eligible to vote in the upcoming general elections
• EC revealed ramps and wheelchairs would be provided at the polling booths
• Elderly and disabled also have a option of casting vote from the comfort of their home
