Jr Doctors announce 'hunger strike' from today, says demands not met
A team of Income Tax officials conducted a survey at the BBC offices in India on Monday. Operations took place in the BBC offices in Delhi and Mumbai. According to the details, the mobile phones of the employees were confiscated and they were asked to go home. Sources said staff working the afternoon shift at the BBC's Delhi office have been asked to work from home.
Meanwhile, Congress responded to IT officials who approached the BBC offices, saying, "The government is going after the BBC, while we here are demanding a JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee) on the Adani issue." The party also released a video of AICC General Secy Shri Jairam Ramesh showing what he said in response to a question about I-T officials visiting the BBC office in Delhi.
Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi also took to Twitter and wrote, "As India chairs the G-20, PM Modi continues to brazenly show India's slide into authoritarianism and dictatorship. BBC raids, pure smears for Adani, tax cuts for the rich, homes people slumbering, inequality and unemployment on the rise."
TMC's Mahua Moitra also took to Twitter and wrote, "News of income tax raid at BBC Delhi branch. Wow, really? How unexpected."
