External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar tweeted that India and Pakistan have worked out an understanding to stop firing and military action. He reaffirmed that India maintains a firm and uncompromising stance against terrorism in all its forms and will continue to do so.
To maintain stability and open communication, it has been decided that the DGMOs of India and Pakistan will speak again on May 12 at 12 noon. This follow-up is intended to assess the ground situation, ensure continued compliance, and build on the current understanding.
The breakthrough followed a direct conversation between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both sides. The call took place at 3:35 PM IST, during which both parties agreed to immediately stop all hostilities and ensure the implementation of the ceasefire across all sectors.
India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed the ceasefire, stating that both countries had mutually agreed to halt all forms of military action—including land, air, and sea operations—by 5 PM IST on May 10, 2025.
He also revealed that hotlines and diplomatic backchannels between the two countries were reactivated to facilitate communication. According to him, around three dozen countries played an active role in mediating and pushing for de-escalation through diplomatic efforts.
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister announced that a full-fledged ceasefire has been achieved between India and Pakistan following days of escalating military tensions that involved cross-border firing and heightened troop activity. This announcement came amid growing international concern over the situation.
