India beats Australia in 3rd T20 by 5 wickets, Washington scores unbeaten 49 (23)

In a thrilling contest at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart, Team India pulled off a sensational, record-breaking run chase to defeat Australia in the third T20I, leveling the series 1-1. The victory was a perfect showcase of depth and belief, largely inspired by the outstanding returns of all-rounder Washington Sundar and pacer Arshdeep Singh, who brought fresh energy and match-winning performances to the playing XI.

The stage was set by Australia's commanding batting display after being asked to bat first. The home side posted a challenging total of 186/6, largely thanks to two blistering half-centuries. Tim David was the chief architect of the Australian innings, smashing a brilliant 74 runs, while the ever-reliable Marcus Stoinis provided crucial support with a power-packed 64. Their efforts ensured Australia had a more than competitive score on the board at a traditionally high-scoring venue.

However, the Indian chase was anchored by a historical effort. Chasing 187, a total that set a new record for the highest successful T20I run chase at the Bellerive Oval, India's batsmen maintained a high tempo, but it was the late-innings heroics that truly sealed the deal. Washington Sundar, promoted in the order, delivered a knock for the ages.

Sundar’s innings was pure T20 mastery. He was relentless and aggressive, slamming an unbeaten 49 runs off a mere 23 balls. His powerful striking, featuring three fours and four sixes, turned a potentially nervy chase into a comfortable win with a remarkable nine balls to spare. This spectacular performance under pressure earned him the Player of the Match award and highlighted his value as a finisher.

On the bowling side, the returning Arshdeep Singh was instrumental in preventing Australia from crossing the 200-run mark. The left-arm pacer showcased his skill with an excellent spell, bagging three crucial wickets. His ability to strike early and remove key players, including the dangerous Stoinis, provided the control India desperately needed on a batting paradise. Varun Chakaravarthy also played a vital role, chipping in with two wickets to curb the middle-overs onslaught.
