"Kolkata to get Water Metro connectivity," says Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari
India etched their name into T20I history by recording the fastest successful chase of a 200-plus target in international cricket during the second T20I against New Zealand in Raipur. Chasing a massive 209, the Men in Blue completed the run-chase in just 15.2 overs, winning with 28 balls to spare and setting a new benchmark for high-scoring pursuits. New Zealand had posted a challenging total of 208/6 after electing to bat first at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium. The Kiwi innings featured contributions from Rachin Ravindra (44 off 26) and Mitchell Santner (47 off 27), but India’s bowlers struck key blows to keep the target within reach.
India’s chase was powered by explosive batting from Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav. Kishan smashed a 76-run knock off 32 balls, including reaching his fifty in just 21 deliveries, while Suryakumar remained unbeaten on 82 off 37 balls. Their partnership of 122 runs in 48 balls laid the foundation for India’s record chase. The victory also equalled India’s highest successful T20I run chase of 209, matching a previous achievement against Australia in 2023, but eclipsed it in terms of speed. By finishing the pursuit in 15.2 overs, India surpassed the previous fastest 200+ chase by Pakistan, who had reached their target in 16 overs in 2025.
This dominant display gave India a 2–0 lead in the five-match series and underscored their potent batting depth. With 209 chased in clinical fashion, the performance stands as a statement of intent ahead of major upcoming cricketing events.
