Indian army and J-K police pay tributes to 5 soldiers martyred in Rajouri encounter

In a solemn ceremony, the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police paid heartfelt tributes to five soldiers who lost their lives in a 36-hour-long encounter in the Bajimaal area of Darmsal in Rajouri district. The soldiers, including Captain MV Pranjal, Captain Shubham Gupta, Havaldar Abdul Majid, Lance Naik Sanjay Bist, and Paratrooper Sachin Laur, displayed exceptional courage while combating terrorists. The encounter resulted in the neutralization of two terrorists, including a top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander trained in Afghanistan, while the security forces suffered five casualties.

A wreath-laying ceremony took place at the Army General Hospital Rajouri, attended by the General Officer Commanding Romeo Force, other officers, and police officials. The soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice were identified as Captain MV Pranjal, Captain Shubham Gupta, Havaldar Abdul Majid, Lance Naik Sanjay Bist, and Paratrooper Sachin Laur. Each soldier's contribution and bravery were acknowledged, with their mortal remains being sent to their respective native places for the last rites.

The encounter unfolded between terrorists and a joint team of the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Bajimaal area of Dharamsala, resulting in the recovery of significant quantities of 'War Like Stores.' The elimination of the top LeT commander, known for orchestrating deadly attacks, is seen as a crucial setback to the resurgence of terrorism in the region.
