No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
A serving Indian Navy personnel has been arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) for allegedly spying for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), and sharing sensitive naval information. The arrest followed intelligence inputs indicating that the accused had established contact with handlers linked to the Pakistani agency.
The accused has been identified as Adarsh Kumar, also known as Lucky, a resident of Kagarol in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra district. Officials said he was serving as a Lance Naik in the Indian Navy and was posted at the Southern Naval Command base in Kochi at the time of the alleged activities.
Investigators claim that Kumar had been communicating with a Pakistan-based ISI handler and allegedly shared photographs and details related to sensitive naval information through digital channels. Authorities also said that financial transactions between the accused and the handler were detected during the probe.
The arrest was made after the ATS received specific intelligence inputs about possible espionage activities. Following verification, the suspect was placed under electronic and physical surveillance before being taken into custody for questioning.
Security agencies are now examining the accused’s communications, digital devices and financial records to determine the extent of information shared and whether other individuals may have been involved in the alleged espionage network.
