 Indian Navy responds to ship hijacking near Somalia, 15 indian crew aboard

In a concerning development, a ship named 'MV LILA NORFOLK' has been hijacked near Somalia, with 15 Indian crew members on board. The Indian Navy has swiftly launched a rescue operation, deploying the battleship INS Chennai to the location. The hijacking was reported on Thursday evening, and the Navy is closely monitoring the situation, collaborating with international partners and friendly foreign countries to ensure the security of merchant shipping in the region.

The Indian Navy further said that 'Naval aircraft are monitoring the movement and INS Chennai is close to the ship to provide assistance. The overall situation is being closely monitored in coordination with other agencies/MNFs in the area. Details related to the kidnapping, including the identity of the perpetrators, are currently unknown.
