Indian Railways has introduced a series of initiatives to facilitate a smooth journey for passengers during the ongoing Diwali and Chhath festivals. To address the increased demand, the national transporter is offering more than 14 lakh berths in special trains across all classes. Recognizing the significance of Diwali and Chhath, Indian Railways advises passengers to secure their reservation tickets early, emphasizing the emotional connection people have with these festivals. Additionally, the railways has augmented regular trains with over five lakh seats through the addition of extra coaches, providing an opportunity for waitlisted passengers to obtain confirmed tickets.
To manage crowds efficiently, Indian Railways has implemented security measures at railway stations, deploying additional Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) personnel. Additional CCTV cameras, loud hailers, VHF sets, and other communication tools have been installed to enhance safety and security during the festive season. To expedite ticket booking, the zonal railways have opened additional counters at selected stations, ensuring a swift process, while also deploying extra ticket-checking staff for thorough verification.
