Disruption in metro services between Dumdum and Dakshineswar; normal services resume after 2 hours
An 11-day military exercise between the US and Indian navies was conducted in Kochi to improve operational coordination and interoperability. The seventh annual Salvage and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) exercise concludes on Thursday, the Indian Navy said.
Along with expert diving and EOD teams, both sides deployed front-line warships to the exercise. "Diving teams from both countries exchanged maritime rescue experience and jointly trained various aspects of EOD operations both on land and at sea," the Indian Navy said in a statement.
To improve interoperability, cohesion and learn from best practices in maritime rescue and EOD operations, joint training exercises were conducted, according to the statement.
"Constructive deployment under operational conditions has improved the skills of dive teams in a number of different disciplines such as mine detection and neutralization, wreck location and salvage," the Navy said.
