NCP leader Baba Siddique shot multiple times and dies in Mumbai Hospital
An Indian youth jumped from the fourth floor of a hotel in Bangladesh to save his life amidst the ongoing violence. Both his legs are broken from the knee, and his back is seriously injured. The youth, Rabiul Islam, a resident of Assam, had to return to India by ambulance from Bangladesh.
Rabiul and his brother Shahid Ali had gone to Bangladesh for business and were staying in a hotel in Jessore. They were on the 12th floor when they heard a terrible noise outside. Upon opening the window, they saw agitators surrounding the entire hotel and setting it on fire.
In a desperate bid to save their lives, the brothers went down to the fourth floor and jumped out of the window. "They were attacking the hotel. Vandalism was rampant. We were in the hotel room and could have been attacked at any moment," Rabiul said. "We went down the stairs with our clothes in a bag, but they set fire to the bottom. Smoke was rising the entire staircase. We went through the window to the next hotel and jumped from there."
Despite Sheikh Hasina leaving the country, random attacks, arson, and beatings continued in Bangladesh on Monday. At least 109 people died from Monday morning to night. The hotel was set on fire, and many Indians, like Shahid, fled Bangladesh to save their lives.
