Full state honors for Ratan Tata, one day mourning announced in Maharashtra
The seventh plane of the Indian Air Force (IAF) carrying relief to the earthquake victims landed in Adana on Sunday as part of 'Operation Dost'. An IAF C 17 Globemaster landed with 13 tons of medical equipment for Turkey and 24 tons of aid for earthquake victims in Syria.
Indian Ambassador Dr Virender Paul and Defense Attaché Colonel Manuj Garg received the consignment along with Turkish officials at Adana Airport. From the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mehmet received a shipment including ventilators, anesthesia machines and other equipment and medicines for the 60 Para Field Hospital in Iskenderun, Turkey.
According to information, 400 patients are treated daily in the Indian Army Hospital. Huge earthquakes have hit Turkey and Syria, leaving over 28,000 dead and several thousand injured or displaced.
The first earthquake near Gaziantep near the Syrian border had a magnitude of 7.8. The second occurred nine hours later and measured 7.6 on the Richter scale. The earthquake has wreaked havoc in Turkey and Syria, and search and rescue operations continue unabated since the tragedy struck both nations.
