IndiGo Airlines has announced changes to its arrival and departure timings following a major disruption at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport caused by a malfunction in the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS). The technical issue affected Air Traffic Control (ATC) data exchange, leading to widespread delays in flight operations across several northern airports.
The airline stated that it is prioritising system restoration and expects normal operations to resume within the next few hours. IndiGo also issued an advisory asking passengers to check updated flight statuses and allow extra travel time to the airport. “Our teams are actively assisting customers with revised schedules and onward connections,” the airline said in a post.
While the AMSS glitch has now been resolved, IndiGo cautioned that delays and terminal-side congestion may persist for some time as operations stabilise. The airline expressed appreciation for the efforts of airport and ATC authorities in restoring systems and resuming normalcy.
Earlier in the day, Delhi Airport confirmed that the AMSS system had gradually recovered and flight operations were returning to normal. At least 100 flights were delayed due to the malfunction, which affected multiple carriers including Air India and SpiceJet.
