n a bid to incentivize voter turnout during the fourth phase of Madhya Pradesh's Lok Sabha elections, Indore's renowned '56 Dukan' extended a unique gesture by providing free Pohe-Jalebi and ice creams to early voters on Monday. The initiative, spearheaded by the Indore Shopkeepers Association of 56 Dukan, aimed to encourage more citizens to exercise their voting rights in the ongoing electoral process.
Amidst the bustling atmosphere of Phase-4 voting in Indore and seven other Lok Sabha constituencies, a long queue of enthusiastic voters was witnessed enjoying breakfast at various shops in the 56 Dukan Market. Voters were required to show their inked fingers to the shopkeepers to avail themselves of the complimentary breakfast. As voting commenced at 7 am and continued until 6 pm, the President of the Merchant Association of the city's famous chaat-chowpatty food center announced the distribution of free Pohe-Jalebi to voters casting their ballots between 7 and 9 am.
Kailash Rijhwani, an ice cream vendor at 56 Dukan, expressed gratitude towards early voters, stating, "We are not giving ice-creams for free but actually giving back to the country and Indore what we have gained. We bow down to the voters who woke up in the early hours of the day to cast their ballots in favor of democracy."
