A cab ride turned violent for a woman in Salt Lake after a heated fare dispute with an InDrive driver. The complainant, Sharmishtha Ghosh from Baguiati, alleged that cab driver Mohammad Shahbaz assaulted her after she paid the agreed fare.
According to the FIR lodged at Bidhannagar North Police Station, the incident took place outside DF-09, Sector 1, Salt Lake. Sharmishtha had booked an InDrive cab from Baguiati and reached her destination when an argument broke out over payment. As she stepped out of the vehicle, Shahbaz allegedly twisted her arm and kicked her in the stomach.
Following the complaint, police registered a case and launched an investigation. The accused, Mohammad Shahbaz Ali, has been arrested and the cab involved has been seized. Authorities confirmed that further inquiry is underway to examine all aspects of the assault.
This incident has raised concerns over passenger safety in app-based cab services and prompted police to tighten scrutiny on driver backgrounds.
