Ink, cow dung smeared on Trinamool wall writing in Asansol; BJP, CPM accused

Political tension has escalated in the Bahadurpur area of Jamuria Assembly constituency after alleged vandalism of wall writings supporting a Trinamool Congress candidate. The incident, which reportedly took place during the night, involved ink and cow dung being smeared on campaign graffiti. The ruling party has blamed opposition parties for the act, while police were deployed in the area to prevent any escalation. According to local sources, this is the second time such an incident has occurred in the booth number 210 area of Bahadurpur. The allegations have been directed at opposition parties, leading to heightened political friction in the region soon after the election announcement. A large police force rushed to the spot on Sunday to control the situation and maintain order.

Trinamool regional president Aditya Laha directly accused the BJP and the CPM, claiming the act was carried out secretly at night because the opposition anticipated defeat. Trinamool candidate and MLA Hareram Singh also alleged that attempts were being made to create unrest ahead of the polls. However, BJP candidate Dr. Bijan Mukherjee denied the accusations, stating that the BJP is focused on its own campaign and claiming the issue stemmed from internal conflicts within the ruling party.

In a separate incident in the Karangpara Post Office area of the Durgapur West Assembly constituency, two Election Commission workers were allegedly assaulted while removing political graffiti from a government wall as part of the Model Code of Conduct. The workers, Suryakant Pal and Bittu Gupta from the Durgapur Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office, claimed they were dragged out of their vehicle and beaten by locals after erasing Trinamool writings. Police and central forces were deployed to restore order, while officials said the Election Commission’s guidelines regarding removal of political writings from government property would be strictly followed.
