In a distressing continuation of recent firecracker shop incidents, another devastating explosion occurred, this time in Malda's English Bazar.
The incident unfolded on Tuesday morning, at approximately 6 a.m., when a series of explosions erupted in a firecracker shop, quickly engulfing it in flames. Tragically, two individuals lost their lives in the ensuing blaze.
The fire is believed to have originated in a firecracker shop located in Netaji Bazar of the Rathbari area. The intense flames rapidly spread to nearby establishments, causing widespread panic among the local population. Eyewitnesses reported that the affected shop had a significant stockpile of carbide, contributing to the ferocity of the fire.
Upon receiving the distress call, the fire brigade promptly arrived at the scene and swiftly broke open the shutter of the shop. Their efforts resulted in the recovery of two charred bodies.
The fire department revealed that the firecracker shop, situated in the densely populated Netajipur market, posed significant challenges in containment. Consequently, the fire quickly spread to four other neighboring shops.
