Inter-state smuggling kingpin arrested with smack, illegal weapons in Bihar's Farbisganj guesthouse raid

Farbisganj police have arrested Mohammad Riyazul Sheikh, an inter-state smuggling kingpin, during a raid at the City Guest House near Station Chowk. Sheikh, a resident of Kalikapur Thakurpara, Malda, West Bengal, was found in possession of an illegal Japan-made revolver and a mobile phone containing images of illicit drug and weapon trafficking deals. The arrest comes after an extensive investigation into a major smuggling network operating across multiple states, including Bihar and West Bengal.

The operation was triggered by a tip-off about Sheikh's involvement in smuggling narcotics, specifically smack, and illegal firearms. The information indicated that he was coordinating smuggling operations with local traffickers and facilitating transactions between Malda, West Bengal, and various locations in Bihar. Acting on this intelligence, a special team was formed under the leadership of Station House Officer Raghvendra Kumar Singh. The team began conducting raids in and around the city’s hotels and lodges, eventually narrowing down their search to Sheikh’s location at the City Guest House.

At the time of the raid, the police discovered a Japan-made revolver and a mobile phone in Sheikh’s possession. The revolver was identified as a highly illegal firearm, with the markings “Made in Japan.” The mobile phone contained photographic evidence of transactions involving smack and various firearms. The images revealed smuggling deals between different states, including discussions of drug delivery schedules and the transfer of weapons. This evidence has been crucial for the police to understand the structure of the smuggling network Sheikh was operating within.

During his interrogation, Sheikh confirmed his involvement in facilitating the movement of illegal substances and weapons. He admitted that he regularly communicated with key smugglers from the districts of Araria and Purnia in Bihar, ensuring the delivery of smack and firearms from Malda to these regions. Sheikh also identified the role of other key figures in the trafficking chain, providing the police with vital leads to further investigate. According to Sheikh, his operation was one of the main supply lines for illicit substances and weapons in both Bihar and neighboring regions.

As a result of this arrest, Farbisganj police have expanded their investigation to target the entire smuggling network. Authorities are working to identify the origin points of the illicit drugs and firearms and track the distribution routes. The police are also focusing on gathering evidence to dismantle the smuggling syndicate entirely, which may involve raids in additional locations and the identification of local distributors.
