Kolkata witnessed yet another massive protest as interview-deprived Upper Primary job aspirants hit the streets, demanding a transparent recruitment process. The rally began with a gathering at Sealdah Big Bazaar, moving through S.N. Banerjee Road, and culminating at the Y Channel in Dharmatala. Protesters, carrying banners and shouting slogans, called for immediate action from the authorities.
For over 935 days, these aspirants have been staging a sit-in protest at the foot of Shaheed Matangini Hazra’s statue, urging the government to release an updated selection list. Despite multiple deputations and continuous demonstrations, their demands remain unaddressed, fueling frustration among the candidates who claim to be qualified yet denied rightful opportunities.
The protestors have accused authorities of delaying the process and failing to ensure a fair hiring system. Many have expressed concerns over their future, stating that years of effort and academic excellence are being wasted due to the prolonged delay. They emphasized that without a resolution, their demonstrations will only intensify.
