Iran President slams US strikes, says America entered war after seeing ‘Israel’s impotence’

The United States carried out airstrikes on three major nuclear sites in Iran — Fordo, Isfahan, and Natanz — overnight. The strikes follow a week of escalating hostilities between Israel and Iran that began on June 13, when Israeli forces targeted Iranian military and nuclear facilities. Several senior Iranian officials and nuclear scientists were reported killed in the Israeli attacks.

Following the Israeli assault, Iran launched a large-scale retaliation, deploying hundreds of missiles and drones aimed at Israel. Some of these projectiles breached Israel’s air defence systems, causing damage and casualties. In response to the growing conflict, the United States entered the fray with direct military action.

US President Donald Trump, in a televised statement from the White House, described the American airstrikes as “massive precision strikes” and a “spectacular military success.” He stated that the targeted nuclear sites were “completely and fully obliterated” and warned that more strikes would follow if Iran retaliated.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, making his first statement after the airstrikes, said, “This aggression showed that America is the main factor behind the Zionist regime's hostile actions against the Islamic Republic of Iran.” He added, “The United States joined the arena after witnessing Israel’s impotence.”

Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization confirmed the strikes on its nuclear facilities but stated that the country's nuclear programme would continue. Both Iranian authorities and the UN nuclear watchdog reported no immediate signs of radioactive contamination at the attacked sites. The conflict has resulted in hundreds of deaths and over 1,000 injuries in Iran, while in Israel, more than two dozen have been killed and hundreds wounded.
