Tension flared up again in the Bhangar region after the vehicle of ISF leader Naushad Siddiqui was allegedly attacked during a campaign programme on Saturday night. The incident occurred in the Chariswar area of Bhangar Assembly constituency’s Block No. 2, shortly before the conclusion of a public meeting.
According to reports, miscreants hurled bricks at Siddiqui’s car while he was addressing supporters from the stage. The rear portion of the vehicle was significantly damaged in the attack. The incident triggered immediate unrest, with supporters of the Indian Secular Front blocking several roads in protest. The unrest also affected political activities in the area, as Trinamool Congress candidate Baharul Islam from Canning East was reportedly stranded in the Ghatakpukur area due to the demonstrations. A large contingent of police was deployed to bring the situation under control, and an investigation has been launched to identify those responsible.
Siddiqui alleged that the attack was orchestrated by individuals linked to the All India Trinamool Congress to create fear and unrest ahead of the elections. The ruling party has firmly denied the allegations. With tensions rising repeatedly in Bhangar in recent days, police have intensified vigilance and launched a probe into the incident.
