Delhi Police has launched an investigation into the mysterious blast near the Israel Embassy that occurred on December 26. After examining CCTV footage, two suspects have been identified, although their involvement in the incident has not been confirmed. An FIR against unknown persons has been registered at the Tughlaq Road police station, and a sealed report of the blast will be handed over to the Delhi Police by the NSG bomb squad team.
Forensic experts from the National Security Group (NSG) and Delhi Police have collected samples from the blast site, and the police are awaiting forensic reports to ascertain the components of the blast. As part of the ongoing investigation, a thorough search operation has been launched in the area, including interrogating individuals who were present near the spot before the incident, and taxi and auto drivers who passed through Prithvi Raj Road and Abdul Kalam Road.
On Tuesday, a call was received by Delhi Police reporting a 'blast' near the Israeli Embassy in the Chanakyapuri diplomatic enclave. However, officials stated that no evidence of a blast was found at the site. Paramilitary forces are now deployed outside the embassy, and security measures have been intensified. Two suspects have been arrested based on CCTV footage analysis, though their involvement remains unconfirmed.
Israel's Deputy Ambassador to India, Ohad Nakash Kaynar, assured the safety of all workers and diplomats at the Israel Embassy. The incident was reported by a security official near the embassy who heard a loud noise around 5 p.m., resembling a tire burst, and observed smoke near a tree. The investigation is ongoing, with Delhi Special Cell, Dog Squad, and NIA officials actively involved in the process.
