In an impressive display of precision and engineering, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) recently commanded the Vikram Lander to undertake a crucial maneuver. On Monday, ISRO announced the successful execution of this operation, which involved the Lander firing its engines to raise itself by approximately 40 cm and safely landing at a specific distance of 30 to 40 cm from its initial location on the lunar surface.
Taking to the social media platform X, ISRO proudly shared the achievement, stating, "Chandrayaan-3 Mission: Vikram soft-landed on Moon, again! Vikram Lander exceeded its mission objectives.
It successfully underwent a hop experiment. On command, it fired the engines, elevated itself by about 40 cm as expected and landed safely at a distance of 30 – 40 cm away."
