The Income Tax department is currently raiding the office of Janata Dal (United) MLC Radhacharan Sah and his close aide in Bihar's Patna's Boring Road area for the second consecutive day.
Apart from their Patna office, other premises are currently being raided in connection with alleged tax evasion worth crores of rupees. He is the state general secretary of JD(U), elected from Buxar region.
Raids were conducted at several places in Patna and Arrah, including Babu Bazar residence, Anaith residence and Ramna Maidan Shaheed Bhawan hotel on Tuesday.
Mr Sah is a rags-to-riches story, from selling jalebis outside the Arrah railway station in the 1970s to running a multi-crore business empire. The Income Tax Department has tightened the noose on JDU MLC Radhacharan Sah. Apart from this, raids were also conducted in the state capital as the case is said to be related to the disproportionate assets case.
In April 2022, the NDA JDU candidate with former MLA Sah won the Bhojpur co-Buxar MLC election for the second time in a row. He defeated the Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) candidate of the Grand Alliance, Anil Samrat. In July 2022, he was nominated as the state general secretary of the JDU and was close to the party's top brass. He was also in the RJD for a long time in the past.
