In an effort to ensure the safety and well-being of its students, Jadavpur University has recently established a new anti-ragging committee. The committee comprises 33 members, including high-ranking university officials such as the Vice Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellor, Registrar, and Dean of Students. This development was officially announced by the university through a notification.
The anti-ragging committee has been set up with the primary objective of actively monitoring the university premises and hostels to prevent any instances of ragging, a practice considered harmful and detrimental to students' mental and physical well-being.
To facilitate immediate action and reporting of any ragging-related incidents, each committee member has been assigned a dedicated email ID and phone number. This initiative aims to provide an accessible and responsive system for students to reach out in case of emergencies or concerns.
Furthermore, Jadavpur University has taken additional steps to emphasize its commitment to eradicating ragging within its campus. The university's notification includes information about the new anti-ragging helpline number established by the state government, the helpline number provided by the University Grants Commission (UGC), and the website address for filing online complaints with the UGC. These resources are intended to empower students and faculty members to report any ragging incidents promptly and seek assistance when needed.
This move by Jadavpur University reflects the institution's dedication to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all students, promoting a culture of respect and cooperation while actively addressing issues related to ragging.
