Jamshedpur: Two accidents in Kadma leave a youth dead and a van gutted

Two incidents involving moving vehicles rocked Kadma locality in the steel town and Gamharia in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Saturday morning.

In Gamharia this morning, a 21-year-old youth was found dead in a 10-feet deep trench along Raibasa-Rajgaon road under Gamharia thana area about 16 km from here. The victim's motorcycle was lying next to the body, suggesting that the deceased, later identified as Vishwa Nayak, might have died after accidentally slipping into a ditch during the night. 

However, surviving family members claimed that it could have been a case of murder. “Vishwa met his girlfriend in Rajgaon last night but returned home. It is likely that the girl's family could have been murdered and the body and the bike thrown into a ditch," one of the family members claimed to journalists.

The police have started investigation into the case and sent the body to Seraikela Sadar Hospital for autopsy. “We are probing the circumstances that led to the mysterious death of the youth,” said OC, Gamharia thana, Rajiv Ranjan Singh as per reports.

In the second incident this morning, a van caught fire in traffic at Bhatia Bustee under Kadma thana area. According to the police, two persons were on board the van – a Maruti van, but while negotiating the Kadma-Bhatia Bustee road, smoke started billowing from the front of the van, causing both of them to exit the vehicle immediately. Soon after, the van was on fire and completely gutted.
