'Jashn-E-Diwali' tag at Kurla's Phoenix Mall removed ahead of festivities after MNS Protest, shows video

In a recent development, the 'Jashn-E-Diwali' tag adorning Kurla's Phoenix Mall has been removed following objections from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). The controversy erupted when MNS Chandivali Vibhag Pramukh Mahendra Bhanushali raised concerns about the tag, claiming that it unnecessarily incorporated Urdu words for greeting people during the Hindu festival of Diwali.

A video capturing Bhanushali's objections gained traction on social media, and he emphasized the importance of adhering to traditions while celebrating festivals.Mahendra Bhanushali's statements gained attention as he argued, "All feel bad when Hindus are celebrating festivals, and hence all sorts of gimmicks are played to show it down. It's a skewed mentality. We don't want to insult any religion, but we would like to be greeted as per the traditions."

Additionally, he questioned whether the mall had similar tags for festivals that begin with 'Jai Shri Ram.' This incident is reminiscent of a similar controversy from the previous year when the 'Jashn-e-Rivaj' campaign by FabIndia faced a similar outcry on social media, leading to calls for a boycott until the campaign was withdrawn.
