Javed Khan’s son served 48-Hour notice amid massive demolition drive

The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has intensified its battle against unauthorized urban development, launching a sweeping demolition drive across several key neighborhoods on Sunday. Areas including Tiljala, Kasba, and Beleghata witnessed a heavy presence of civic authorities supported by a massive police contingent. The operation aims to pull down structures built in direct violation of municipal building codes, marking one of the most significant enforcement actions by the KMC in recent months.

The drive has hit close to home for political heavyweights in the city. In Ward 66 of Tiljala, which is represented by TMC councillor Faiyaz Ahmed Khan—the son of veteran TMC MLA Javed Khan—bulldozers were seen dismantling unauthorized portions of buildings. The high-profile nature of the area necessitated tight security to prevent any local resistance as civic officials executed the demolition orders under the watchful eyes of the police.

In a further escalation, Imran Khan, another son of Javed Khan, has reportedly been served a 48-hour notice regarding his office premises. The notice mandates the removal or regularization of alleged structural irregularities, failing which the civic body is expected to take direct action. This move underscores the KMC's current "zero-tolerance" stance toward illegal constructions, regardless of the political stature of the owners involved.
