Bidhannagar North Police arrested Trinamool Congress leader Jayaprakash Majumdar. The arrest follows serious allegations of illegal house occupation spanning over a decade. Majumdar is accused of forcibly occupying a residence for 12 years without paying the requisite dues, leading to a major confrontation with the property owner and local residents.
According to the complainant, the situation escalated when the homeowner attempted to collect long-overdue rent. Instead of resolving the matter, Majumdar allegedly issued threats against the owner, further fueling local resentment. This prompted residents of the Salt Lake area to stage a massive protest on Wednesday, surrounding the leader and chanting slogans such as "thief, thief, thief" as a sign of their grievance against his conduct.
The local police arrived at the scene amid the growing unrest to maintain law and order. After assessing the complaints and the immediate volatility of the situation, officers from the Bidhannagar North Police Station took Jayaprakash Majumdar into custody. The arrest has sparked significant local interest, as it highlights ongoing tensions regarding property disputes and the conduct of political figures in the region.
